Currents piece.  My first experiment with freeform piecing, before taking RuthMcDowell's class, full of challenges!  Silks and metallic, recycled.

I worked to capture the play of light on the ocean, the movement of the water.

Early morning walk along empty volleyball courts on Laguna Beach's Main Beach.  The verticals of the rainbow, lifeguard tower and posts match the strong horizontals of the nets , the patterned sand in the forefront, horizon and lifting storm clouds.  Possible abstraction.  I love the distant palm tree on the far right.

Big Red Gate, Big Blue Sky:  I thought about Robert Frost's "Good fences make good neighbors" when working on this piece.  I liked the way a gate opens across separating fences, the thought that differences could be maintained without eliminating access to another's place.  The silk, all recycled, catches the light and fractures the sky, making the gate simultaneously vulnerable and bold.
